Hacktendo!

Have you ever been playing an MMO and said to yourself, "wait a second! why can't I make little arcade games inside this larger game?". Well luckily, even for those who have not yet contemplated this issue, we at Hack Wars have the solution. Hacktendo, the new content pack for Hack Wars, allows players to develop their own arcade games using the in-game scripting language. The game creator itself can be purchased with a one-time investment of $5, the games, however, can be played for free, and developers can sell them in their in-game store.

The basic idea is this, Hack Wars is already a fun virtual hacking game, with this extension to the game we hope to extend on this by making (as far as we know) the first game to facilitate an indy-video-game development community as a play mechanic. We hope that players will:

  • Learn the development environment.
  • Collaborate on code, and the challenges involved in making games.
  • Share art, scripts, and game ideas.
  • Ultimately distribute the games in their Hack Wars stores for virtual money.

If this idea takes off, it's our hope that there will be dozens of arcade titles floating around in Hack Wars. Creating a very addictive way to pass time, and a nice break from hacking noobs (not that this responsibility can ever be ignored).

Here's a link to the manual entry on Hacktendo. And, again here's the video of the game I've already created to test the game engine, I hope that other's will soon follow as players get a handle on Hacktendo.

Do you need to buy Hacktendo

Do you need to buy Hacktendo to play the games. When I try to play Johnny_Heart's game a white screen come up and stays there and does nothing. I thought you just need Hacktendo to make games.

PS. Has anyone other than Johnny_Heart made a game.

Why we need to buy Hacktendo
