Well, I don't know how to say this any other way except that I'm a huge networking freak, Not just a 'ooh put two switches together and make a network' but huge 'router switch eigrp irgp etc.' stuff. and I was thinking if this would be a substitute for Guilds, You could get several people together on a network hidden by a router and a NAT setting that represents the one singular guild point, router would have to be configured and you could use simple Cisco IOS settings or even make it simpler with a whole 'throw money at it and it becomes harder to break into the network' making the guild not only a good collaboration point but a huge vault, allowing people to hide highly secure documents/scripts on the network and allow their guild to throw money into the collaborative 'vault' of a router preventing other people from looking in. a.k.a. router = locked door controlled by guilds power, if people put their safestuff in one side of the door, people can let their guild help hold that locked door shut from attacks.
TL;DR version
Guilds = Networks
You need a router to create a network (with NAT)
I would LIKE to see this true to networking and include allowance of full blown networking control ranging from LDAP to FTP Servers to such.
and if this is WAY too deep for the game at this point, I understand, I just felt it was necessary to say.
Lot's of people have been
Lot's of people have been asking for "Social Network" Guild support. It's definitely something we have plans for in the future but don't have anything definite yet. Like most stuff in the game we want to strike the balance between fun and realistic and there are so many fun ideas for Guilds it's going to be hard to cut some of them. With some of the newer updates like global variable and the recent File IO Pack you should find you can do some interesting networking and authentication stuff with your website. Try experimenting to see what you can create. Thanks for the suggestion.
