I like the idea of merchant and the discount in Ali's shop but in player shops this annoys me.
I rarely put anything in my shop because if I set a price that is reasonable to low level players then someone with a high merchant might take all for nearly free. And if I set it high enough so itis just a common price for high level players then it is too expensive for low level players.
I would like to have this merchantlevel-based discount removed in player shops.
What do you think?

Great point, I would love to set some of my prices lower but then high level players can take advantage and I can be selling it for no reason and just sell it to the store. It should not count in player shops. It's okay in Ali's shop.

I agree with you guys that it is kind of annoying, but I don't think you can just eliminate tax entirely from player shops. If you did there wouldn't be much point to having the merchant lvl because the only thing most people buy from Ali is CPU, HD, and Memory. Maybe something a little different like having the ability to set different prices for people below lvl 50 and those above lvl 50 would work better than eliminating tax all together.

and cards (sometimes you find a good one in the store - I found a +8dam card there once) and UAFW. This can be more important if there are more shop only items with high prices.

firewall skill:
< level 95: none. (every firewall can be aquired easier by hacking NPCs)
>=level 95: be able to buy UAFW from shop on your own.
other benefit: adds to your total level.
Scan skill:
the higher your scan level the better your chance to get more information about your target when you scan him - which is nothing when you don't want to leave trails by scanning him. It adds to your total level too, but it has "limited" benefits...
So I don't really think removing discount in player shops would be so bad to the merchant skill. And low level players would benefit from fairer prices in player shops (their bad discount removed AND reduced prices)

Why do you think we wanted store API functions for HTTP? How about setPrice(float); or getMerchLvl(); etc?
Then players would have the option to add a snippet, or even do some other cool stuff with it.
Don't you think store API in HTTP would be sweeet?

I started this suggestion because it is easier/faster to change then the store functions ( my opinion ). No matter of whatever will happen about the store functions.

In "HTTP API and the store" you all talked about how to integrate the shop into the webpage - not about setting prices or the discount. Really no word about that.
Now the suggestion of this thread and "HTTP API and the store" will influence the trading in HW but both suggestions can be dealt with independently
