Can you please detach the chat window from the far right hand side of the screen. At the moment, the chat box is dragged to whatever width the window is. If you separate the right hand chat boundary from the right hand window boundary, it will stop the chat text from spanning the entire width of the screen into something more readable.

If only it were that simple....
The chat system is a very old and very complicated piece of crap that literally needs a full rewrite in my opinion. I don't mean to offend any of the developers (including those not with us anymore) but, it is the truth.
The chat system, window, etc is all on the list of things to do. Right now we're thinking about giving it it's own window (similar to the rest of the Hack Wars windows) with many more options, chat commands, etc. It not only needs a rewrite for obvious reasons but even for future development. For example, there is no working friends list, ignore is a "permanent" action. We also plan on having an "Organization system"(clans/guilds) and possibly a "Group" system(parties) which would also need to plug in to chat. We'd also like to allow system messages to be passed into chat (i.e. Announcements, Server warnings, etc) on all tabs as well as chat links (i.e. websites/ips). On top of that....wouldn't it be nice to maintain in game whispers in independent tabs/windows???
Some reasoning behind chat not being worked on: It "works". Not a top priority. After all, who are you going to chat with if we have no players since there's no content and tons of other bugs that make things NOT work???
