well atm you have to use trade channel to buy and sell (and forums), but people who are selling might not be on at same time as the buyers so less trading is done. then there is shops, they are a pain.
My suggestion: have a brand new place to trade stuff.
How it works: If you want something you goto the 'market place' and click the buy button, you then type the name of the item and the search results are narrowed down to what fits the relevant terms and then you click it.
From there you can choose the price you want to buy at and how many, then click ok.
For people selling items same applies, but you click sell, then select the item from your hdd and choose the price and how many.
EDIT::
well i created a few images quickly to show you what i mean;

Someone could make something
Someone could make something like that on there site. I believe Draco was.... I would happly try to make a program for people to search for stuff to sell. Like post a item to sell with a price/range and who to contact or where to buy.
But that'll have to wait till next weekend :(

Marketplace
While it is true that players can always find and make deals with other players, it does require a bit of effort. This Grand Exchange idea is comparable to Runescape's marketplace (which I think is actually called the Grand Exchange), and I think it works really well.
In Hack Wars, people should be able to sell their products without making a good website (not everyone is good at this or cares about website design) and without needing to spam the Trade channel with their website address or IP address every now and then. There's also a risk involved with selling if you don't have a domain name, which can be discouraging for lower level players, and in general there's always a risk that someone will purchase all your items and then steal your petty cash or something like that. Well, you may say that this is part of the game, but this hinders the economy. Fewer people are willing to sell anything, because they have to expose themselves in order to do so. On the other side of the coin, buyers may be wary of sellers logging their IP address.
I believe that having a "Grand Exchange" system - perhaps a website where you can upload your items and receive money when someone buys them - will encourage more players to sell and will boost the economy. Players will then be able to sell and purchase anonymously, with very little effort on their part. Nobody could buy all your stuff and then hack you because they wouldn't know who they purchased it from. Overall it's a much more secure transaction.
One final reason why this system is beneficial is that there are simply not many sellers in Hack Wars, and there never has been. This is because low level players can't enter into the market if it's too risky for them, and (correct me of I'm wrong) low-level players are usually greater in number than high-level players. High-level players may be more popular, and have more widely known websites than low-level players, who may have a hard time getting people to even check out their inventory.
It's the barrier of entry, so to speak, that hinders the economy and a "Grand Exchange" website would help.
from my images you can see i
from my images you can see i was looking at the grand exchange thing from runescape, and yes this is where the main idea came from, but no copyright can be put on it as its the way the world works.
Thank you surf for pointing out all the advantages to the grand exchange, its also very easy to create.

hmm
easy to create? on what do you base that claim? just wondering ...

(Im in ur compilerz lolin' ur codez !)
Now that we are at it...
then i think another reason ppl don't sell stuff, and the main reason i don't, is that if you sell an item, whatever, and you sell it with a low interest (ex. i compile a script for sale in my shop, it costs $2000 to compile, i sell it for $2500) then some high level player comes and buys the script, and i loose money on the trade ($2500 * 0,5 = $1.250) i think the whole discount in shops thing is F*cked up! it's nice at alis, but in player shops players should be allowed to set their price as they wanted!! if i upload 1k DT at $11 each so noobs can buy them, then some high level just buys them for $5,5 THAT WAS NOT WHAT I WANTED!! why do high level players have an ability to override the prices set by a player?! if i set the price for $2500 then it's because i want $2500 for it!! but if i set the price to $4000 to compensate, then the low level players won't have a fair chance since they pay 50% more!! ($4000 * 1,5 = $6.000)...
to sum up, the newbies won't buy, since the prices are to high, the players won't sell, since they won't get what they want, and then the economic dies!
that's just my feedback on the trade system/economics

Easy?
It would certainly require a bit of work. There's probably a few different ways it could be set up, but if we assume that it would be an NPC website, then you would have to: make the website have a search function that allows you to search within a price range; allow users to upload their products at set prices; have a way of displaying products and prices with a Purchase button, on the web page (and not on the bottom where we usually have such things); all the while making it in a nice layout/design. Currently, as far as I know, we have no way to upload anything through a webpage, and we cannot have purchase buttons in a webpage. The search function might have to access a database directly, rather than a file on the NPC harddrive.
Doesn't sound so simple to me.
it really is simple. 1. npc
it really is simple.
1. npc website i think can use java functions (doesnt ming?), even if they cant a\tm it doesnt take long to make them to.
2. i was thinking as new window.
3. creating it isnt that hard, just have to get the window to have a button with an image and text (easy), then make it so on click it limits what you search. search looks through a table in a database (sql's LIKE query would be best for this. and etc)
